Eco Warrior

The Eco Warriors at St Agnes are a group of children from both Key Stage 1 and 2 who are committed to improving sustainability for ourselves and future generations. Every half- term we meet to discuss ways in which we can do our bit to help protect the planet, beginning with our own school environment. It is one of our duties as Catholics to care for our common home and preserve God’s Creation.

The Eco Warriors have been involved in many projects including: a whole school waste awareness project promoting the three Rs of waste management -Reduce, Reuse and Recycle; litter picking; planting seeds around the school; speaking at school assemblies and helping to promote Earth Day during which whole class eco workshops were held.

The Eco Warriors also collaborate with fundraising projects and help to promote them across the school. They have previously connected with CAFOD to fundraise for a medical outreach team and also to preserve a part of the Amazon rainforest. The school community raised a total of £945 for the medical outreach team- an achievement which earned St Agnes a personalised youtube message from CAFOD.

In the future, we hope that the Eco Warriors continue their enthusiasm for sustainability, as well as develop awareness of global issues concerning the environment. We hope to carry on regular meetings to spread the message throughout the school.
