Our Approach to Wellbeing

At St. Agnes’, we believe that wellbeing is fundamental to academic success and personal growth. Our approach to wellbeing encompasses the following key elements:

Holistic Support

We recognise that each pupil is unique and may require different forms of support. Our dedicated team of staff members is committed to providing holistic support tailored to the individual needs of our pupils.

Positive School Culture
We strive to cultivate a positive school culture where pupils feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. We promote a Growth Mindset for our pupils in collaboration with LORIC Behaviours and Zones of Regulation. Through positive reinforcement, encouragement, and inclusive practices, we aim to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment for all.
Collaborative Partnerships
We collaborate with parents, guardians, external agencies, and the wider community to enhance the wellbeing of our pupils. By working together, we can provide comprehensive support systems that address the diverse needs of our school community.
Counselling Services
Our school offers a counselling service to pupils who may benefit from additional support. Our qualified counsellor provides a safe space for pupils to discuss their concerns, explore coping strategies, and develop resilience.
Mental Health Support
At St. Agnes’ Catholic Primary School, we prioritise the mental health and well-being of our pupils. We have a committed team member trained as a Youth Mental Health First Aider and a Senior Mental Health Lead readily available to offer support or simply have a chat with any pupils who may need it.
Mindfulness and Relaxation
We incorporate mindfulness and relaxation techniques into our curriculum to help pupils manage stress, improve focus, and enhance overall well-being. Through practices such as deep breathing exercises, guided meditation, and yoga, pupils learn valuable tools for self-regulation and emotional balance. After lunch, all pupils participate in a guided meditation session to ensure they are calm and ready for their learning.
Our School Curriculum
Our PSHE curriculum is tailored to the needs of our school community and new learning built on prior knowledge. We promote healthy lifestyles among our pupils through interactive workshops, PE lessons, collective worship and cooking classes. Through our school offering, our pupils learn about the importance of balanced nutrition, physical activity, and overall wellness.
Get Involved
We encourage parents, guardians, and members of the community to get involved in our wellbeing initiatives. Whether through volunteering, participating in workshops, or supporting fundraising efforts, your involvement plays a crucial role in promoting the wellbeing of our pupils.

What they do

We provide help and support to children, young people and their families from before birth up to the age of 19 (or 25 if they have special educations needs or a disability).

How can they help

All families face challenges and sometimes need support. Early Help provides this support as soon as possible to tackle difficulties for children, young people and families before they become more serious.

We work with the whole family but children are at the centre of all we do.

Every family has strengths and Early Help can work with you to build on these.

With parental consent, we can involve professionals that will work together so you only have to tell us about your situation once.

What happens

Once we receive a referral for an Early Help Assessment:

You will be contacted to discuss your request an Early Help Assessment may be completed with you. This will usually involve more discussions between you and (if you agree) other members of your family and relevant professionals to support you in the best way this support will be coordinated by a Lead Professional who will be your main point of contact
