Enrichment in our Curriculum
Memorable experiences
At St Agnes we aim create a learning environment with plentiful memorable learning experiences. These opportunities promote deeper understanding over short-term retention, benefiting students throughout their academic journeys and beyond.
Where possible we take advantage of our schools’ great London location and use local public transport routes, this enables pupils to become familiar and confident to travel around their locality but also keeps our trip costs more affordable for our families. We often will have visitors to the school, this often allows many of our pupils across the school to benefit. We also plan and hold many special events within our school that helps to make our pupils learning stick!

Pathways
St Agnes’ Pathways is a unique and exciting experience for our children from Years 2-6. At the end of term, the children are given the choice of several options to take part in on a half a day course delivered by the teachers. Once the children have chosen their 3 options, they will receive one of these and will go to a new classroom with a mix of age groups to enjoy this. As an example, last year the children had the choice of STEM based lego exploration, chocolate and cooking design and making, Tudor historical immersion, computing CAD designs, interior design, problem solving with detective challenges, henna art designs, computing video editing, chess tournaments, dance and carnival themed exploration, story developments and puppetry design, historical research of the life of a pirate and STEM problem solving. Â
It is always a highly anticipated event for the children who are always chatting and buzzing with excitement in the lunch hall as they share their experiences of their session so far, as well as being an opportunity to make new friends as each group had a mix of ages. The idea of St Agnes’ Pathways is to inspire and give children an experience or possible future interest they may not have previously been exposed to.Â

Aspiration week
We welcome visitors to speak about their work to give our children an insight into the many different careers which are available. We are fortunate to have formed supportive links within our local community who provide a wide range of learning opportunities for our children.
St Agnes’ parent volunteers have an increasing role throughout Aspirations Week and the children are excited to learn from their classroom chats.
Pupils at St Agnes’ are given the opportunity to broaden their horizons and think about roles they might aspire to and how they can contribute to their community.
These live or virtual interactive experiences, reduce stereotypes, enhance confidence and foster a positive attitude towards school.
Career-related learning helps our pupils to understand that many jobs include subjects linked to our school curriculum, and doing well in school can help them in the future.
