Racial Justice, Equality and Diversity (RJED)

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
As Christ’s disciples, our love for one another will ensure that all  members of our community are held to be equal and are treated with dignity and respect. Through challenge and guidance for our schools, we will overcome bias and discrimination to create a more equal and inclusive society. We will offer support for those who have been ignored, oppressed, abused or persecuted due to their race, ethnicity, culture or background. Together we celebrate the diversity that enriches our community.

At St Agnes, we are proud to be a community that celebrates the richness of our many languages, cultures, and traditions. We recognise the unique identities and contributions of each member of our school family and reflect the beauty of our shared experiences through learning, connection, and understanding.

We respect everyone in our community because each person is created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and is worthy of love, care, and dignity. This belief shapes the way we live, learn, and grow together.

Guided by our mission statement — “The family of St Agnes loves, learns, and grows together as followers of Jesus” — we celebrate diversity in all its forms, building a school where every child and adult belongs, is valued, and is encouraged to flourish.

International Evening

At the start of every school year, we proudly host our International Evening to celebrate the rich diversity that makes our community so special. This much‑loved annual tradition brings together families, staff, and students to share and appreciate the many cultures represented within our school. The event features an incredible array of foods from around the world, lovingly prepared by our families, allowing everyone to experience new flavours and learn about the heritage behind each dish. Throughout the evening, children take to the stage to showcase performances that reflect their cultural backgrounds—ranging from traditional dances and songs to storytelling, music, and beautifully crafted presentations. These performances not only highlight the talents of our students but also help promote understanding, pride, and awareness of the unique identities that make up our school community. International Evening is a joyful celebration of unity, respect, and belonging, reminding us all of the value of learning from one another. It sets a positive and inclusive tone for the year ahead and stands as a testament to our commitment to fostering an environment where every child feels seen, valued, and celebrated.

Diversity in Religious images.

Diversity in religious images is important because it helps create an environment where students from all backgrounds feel recognised, respected, and included. When a variety of beliefs and traditions are represented visually, it reinforces the message that every individual’s identity matters and has a valued place within the school community. It also supports learning by encouraging children to develop curiosity, empathy, and understanding toward faiths that may be different from their own. By exposing students to a range of religious symbols and perspectives, schools promote tolerance, reduce stereotypes, and help build a community rooted in mutual respect. In this way, diverse religious images not only reflect who we are as a school, but also help shape a more open‑minded and inclusive generation.
